Fofana fires parting shot at Rodgers after completing Chelsea move

Wesley Fofana took aim at Brendan Rodgers after sealing his move to Chelsea, accusing the Leicester City manager of looking to expose him in recent weeks.

Fofana completed his long-awaited move to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, signing a seven-year contract after a deal in the region of £75million was struck.

Leicester rejected multiple bids from Chelsea before their demands were met, and the build-up to the defender s departure was not entirely amicable.

Fofana was made to train with Leicester s under-23 squad after professing his desire to join Chelsea, with Rodgers declaring he was not in the right frame of mind to play for Leicester.

Rodgers also unfavourably compared Fofana s attitude to that of Harry Maguire, who left Leicester for Manchester Unite…

Manchester City 6-3 RB Leipzig: Grealish gets debut goal in Champions League thriller

Jack Grealish helped Manchester City negotiate a tricky Champions League opener and sensationally defeat RB Leipzig 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium.

Club-record signing Grealish made his European debut a memorable one on Wednesday, adding to an early assist for Nathan Ake with a sublime second-half strike.

City – in action in this competition for the first time since last season s final defeat to Chelsea – wobbled a little between those two efforts, benefitting from Nordi Mukiele s own goal and a Riyad Mahrez penalty but conceding twice to Christopher Nkunku.

Even after Grealish s goal, Nkunku s hat-trick strike caused further concern, only for Joao Cancelo and substitute Gabriel Jesus to notch numbers five and six for City and clinch three vital points in a tough …

Luis Enrique will keep Spain playing the same way

Luis Enrique has promised Spain will continue to play the same way as under previous coaches after naming his first squad.

Spain drew plaudits for their style and established themselves as the world s leading nation in winning three successive major tournaments under Luis Aragones and Vicente del Bosque between 2008 and 2012.

However, they endured a difficult World Cup in Russia after Julen Lopetegui departed on the eve of the finals, interim appointment Fernando Hierro overseeing a last-16 shoot-out loss to the hosts.

But Luis Enrique, familiar with the possession-based game from his time at Barcelona, sees no reason to change things ahead of his reign beginning against England next week.

Everton 1-1 Tottenham: Keane stunner denies Stellini debut win in dramatic battle

Michael Keane s sensational 90th-minute strike salvaged a 1-1 draw for Everton as Cristian Stellini was denied three points in his first match since stepping into Antonio Conte s void at Tottenham.

The defender scored a 25-yard screamer to snatch a point for the Toffees at Goodison Park on Monday against a Spurs side who had otherwise looked set for a win that would have lifted them up to third.

Harry Kane earlier scored from the penalty spot to give Spurs the lead shortly after he had been involved in an altercation that saw Abdoulaye Doucoure sent off.

Lucas Moura was given his marching orders as well, and then Keane intervened to spark raucous scenes for Sean Dyche s men.

Di Francesco unperturbed by ´tough time´ at Roma

Eusebio Di Francesco admits he and Roma are going through a tough time but his sole focus is to guide the Giallorossi through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Roma were dealt a hugely damaging 3-0 derby defeat by rivals Lazio on Saturday, putting Di Francesco under pressure ahead of a European second leg against Porto in midweek.

This has been pinpointed as a key game for the head coach, yet he is keen for Roma to take centre stage as they seek to defend a 2-1 lead in Portugal, setting aside his personal fortunes for the time being.

I would like to draw attention not to Di Francesco, but to Roma, he told a news conference.

My thoughts do not go to myself, but to my boys, for Roma to play a great game. It s not Di Francesco s game, but the players…

Mauricio Pochettino hails Chelsea match-winner Noni Madueke’s attitude

Mauricio Pochettino praised match-winner Noni Madueke’s determination to prove his Chelsea worth after he came off the bench to score a late penalty in his side’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Roy Hodgson’s side looked like they had done enough to earn a deserved point as the game ticked into its final moments, until the result turned after a clumsy challenge made by Eberechi Eze, leaving a leg out on the edge of the box for Madueke to tumble over.

A pitch-side VAR review was required but it seemed a straightforward call for referee Michael Salisbury, who awarded a penalty from which the substitute Madueke, who had previously made only seven league appearances under Pochettino, coolly stroked home the winner.

Chelsea want Upamecano

I will speak well with my agents and my parents at the end of the season. And we will make the right decision.

Those are the short and sweet words of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano who has confirmed that he will wait until the end of the campaign to make any decision on his future however, for clubs that are interested, they ll almost certainly be getting to work before that.

The belief is that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to overhaul the Blues defence during the summer transfer window, and in the wake of their performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this week, it isn t all too hard to see or understand why.

Upamecano is said to be Lampard s primary target heading into the summer and while there are likely to be more tha…
